This book explores Indonesian textiles collection that were carefully selected from the collection of Mrs. Jo Seda. She began collecting textiles from the Indonesian archipelago in 1961. The story of her life and some of her collections are described very nicely in this book. In this 242-page book, numerous textiles are displayed, mostly in the form of ikat weaving from Sumatra (Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, South Sumatra, Bengkulu, Lampung), Java, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara (Sumba, Sawu, Rote, Flores, Timor), Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Maluku and Papua. Apart from that, this lavishly illustrated book also explains the meaning of traditional arts motifs and how traditional techniques are part of Indonesia's cultural heritage.
