Rumah Bangsa: Istana-Istana Presiden Republik Indonesia dan Koleksi Benda Seni
The Presidential Palace of the Republic of Indonesia's collection of art objects was started by Indonesia's first president, Sukarno. The rich collection of paintings, sculptures and other art objects that make up the contents of the Rumah Bangsa is much more complete than other art museums in Indonesia. In other words, the Palaces of the President of the Republic of Indonesia have de facto become the largest museums in Indonesia which store extraordinary artistic treasures. Indeed, not all the paintings and art objects displayed in the Palaces of the President of the Republic of Indonesia are from President Soekarno's accumulated collection. During the periods of the following presidents, there were quite a few additions to the collection. This addition includes art objects purchased by, or gifted to, the Presidents and which become state property that are kept at the Palace. The collection of art objects from the Palaces of the President of the Republic of Indonesia includes ceramics, various art objects, historical objects and crafts from all corners of the archipelago and the world, both antique and modern. Also a rare collection of various types of wayang which are very rare or can no longer be obtained. Six Raden Saleh paintings, the forerunner of Indonesian painting - five of which are now on display in the Raden Saleh Room, Merdeka Palace - for example, meet the requirements for the Palace to be called a leading museum.
”Rumah Bangsa: Istana-Istana Presiden Republik Indonesia dan Koleksi Benda Seni” is a very exclusive Indonesian Presidential gift for foreign dignitaries introducing the beauty and the prized art collections of the six presidential palaces in Jakarta, Bogor, Cipanas, Pelabuhan Ratu, Jogja and Tapaksiring
