Hand-carved from a single piece of wood, this antique tenong is a beautiful example of Peranakan Chinese heritage in Indonesia. Used traditionally to serve food during ancestral rites and special occasions, it embodies the fusion of Chinese craftsmanship and local Indonesian aesthetic traditions.
The container is coated in muted black and red finish with raised concentric ring motifs on the lid and base—simple yet elegant. The wear on the lacquer and the presence of minor age crack add to its rich character and historical authenticity.
A meaningful artifact for collectors, this tenong also makes a striking decorative object—perfect for homes embracing wabi-sabi interior.
