This beautifully illustrated retrospective explores the life and work of Balinese painter Nyoman Gunarsa, a limited edition of only 1000 copies. From his upbringing in a village with a rich artistic heritage, Gunarsa's journey is one of passionate dedication to capturing the essence of his beloved Bali.  Deeply influenced by the three-hundred-year-old classic paintings of the open palace where he grew up, he channeled his prodigious energy into creating a contemporary style that resonated with audiences worldwide, establishing him as one of Asia's most celebrated artists.

This stunning volume showcases a selection of his most evocative works in oil, watercolor, and pastel, demonstrating the breadth and depth of his artistic vision.  The images are all the more remarkable when considering Gunarsa's diverse talents: master carver, classical Balinese dancer, dedicated arts teacher, and the driving force behind two major museums.

The book explores Gunarsa's artistic evolution through recurring themes – "Offerings," "Heroes," and the powerful "Power of the Woman" – revealing how he synthesized these periods into a continuous exploration of humanity's spiritual core. This particular copy is signed and numbered by the artist, adding to its value for collectors.
