Nunggak Semi: Batik Adiluhung karya Go Tik Swan Panembahan Hardjonagoro
This book is published to accompany the exhibition "Nunggak Semi: Batik Adiluhung karya Go Tik Swan Panembahan Hardjonagoro" held at the Jakarta Textile Museum, from September 2017 to November 2017. Curated by Neneng Iskandar, this exhibition explored an exquisite collection of batik by Go Tik Swan Panembahan Hardjonagoro. In the 1950s, he carried out the mandate from President Soekarno to develop Indonesian Batik, namely a batik pattern that is more nationalistic and combines a sense of unity, a sense of nationalism, and a sense of romanticism. His work was a seminal influence on the direction of modern batik in Indonesia. This exhibition spans the creative output of his entire career from the early 1950’s through the the late 1970’s.
