LebensMuster: Textilien in Indonesien

This book was published in conjunction with the 1995-1996 exhibition “Patterns of Life - Textiles in Indonesia" at the Museum für Völkerkunde, Vienna. In this exhibition numerous textiles from several regions of Indonesia were presented on a larger scale for the first time. This book gives the viewer insights into the diversity of Indonesian cultures - into a world of patterns and colors with references to almost all areas. Focussing on the social significance of textiles that is inherent in the fabrics, this profusely illustrated book explores a selection of interesting and well-preserved pieces from the collection of the Museum für Völkerkunde, Vienna.
