Inspirasi Islam Pada Batik

This book was published to coincide with the exhibition "Inspirasi Islam Pada Batik”, an exhibition which aims to introduce batik styles in Indonesia which are influenced by Islamic art and culture. As a country where the majority of the population adheres to Islam, Islamic art and culture have merged and integrated with the original cultural roots of local communities in Indonesia. These two different cultures that merge harmoniously have ultimately produced a beautiful work, which has become a characteristic of a particular area. One example is batik, the original Javanese culture which is also the identity of the Indonesian nation. Batik with Islamic inspiration is one of the batik styles that developed in Indonesia which has helped to enrich the treasury of decorative arts in Indonesia.

There is not much literature that discusses batik which is influenced by Islamic art and culture. Thus, the publication of this book is an important step in the effort to record the history of batik which was influenced by Islam.
