The first half of the 19th century was marked by the rise of nationalism and national consciousness that bound this archipelago. Indonesian youth rose and acted to end colonialism. They had a 'new' way: Indonesian unity.

The book Indonesia Bergerak: 1900-1942 was initiated to celebrate 75 years of independence of the Republic of Indonesia. The collection, which is compiled in 139 photo documents, graphics, and other archives, is a treasure trove of history that has been largely forgotten.

Following the historical dioramas in this book, we are reminded: unity and integrity are the absolute assets of Indonesia. A struggle beyond religions, sacrifices that past ethnicity, under the red and white color from Sabang to Merauke. The willingness to move and the spirit of collaboration make this book a historical capsule for a nation whose nowadays majority population are born after 1980.
