Born in Semarang, Gerard Pieter Adolfs was a Dutch painter, watercolourist and graphic artist, who was also a good photographer. Written by Eveline Borntraeger-Stoll (Gerard Pieter Adolfs’s  granddaughter) and Gianni Orsini (a leading expert, curator and author of publications on Western artists who have worked in the former Dutch East Indies), this extraordinary and richly illustrated book explores a detailed biographical and art historical overview of life and work of the Dutch East Indies painter Gerard Pieter Adolfs.The main subjects of his work were scenes of Java and Bali.
