Auction catalogue of the Indonesian Art Sale exclusively showcases numerous fascinating Indonesian art works. A few highlights in this auction are Rudolf Bonnet works from the collection of Rudolf Bonnet’s niece, the late Mrs H. de Roever-Bonnet. Fascinated by his life and many travels, she embarked upon a biography of this globe-trotter and artist. The book entitled 'Rudolf Bonnet, een zondagskind' (Sunday child) was published in 1991. Her fascination for the work of Bonnet was undoubtedly rooted in her fond childhood memories of, and many later acquaintances with, her uncle whom she visited all over the world throughout her life. Further, special attention is given for the work of Adrien Jean Le Mayeur de Merprès, 'Balinese Women by a Pond in the Garden of Sanur'. Although Le Mayeur became physically weaker and weaker in the fifties, his spirit remained unbroken. He set to work with feverish and passionate energy, producing dozens of paintings and pastels. The splendid colours of his pictures remained. His palette was as bright as ever; orange, red and yellow and also green were now his favourites. He remained the colourist pur sang he always had been. This painting is a very strong and mature example of this later, solid work of the post-war oeuvre by Le Mayeur. Also interesting are beautiful paintings by renowned artists such as G.P. Adolfs, R. Bonnet, Willem G. Hofker, Theo Meier, Han Snel, Isaac Israel, Willem Dooyewaard and Basoeki Abdullah. Finally there are also a number of lithographs, ikats, peranakan embroidered textiles, jewellery, ethnographic art, keris, Balinese and Javanese Masks.
