This set includes five pairs of silver pillow ends produced in Java between the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Each piece is decorated in repoussé with Hindu-Javanese motifs, including the bird Garuda, along with dense floral patterns. Small perforations along the edges indicate they were designed to be sewn onto pillows.
Traditionally used in wedding settings, these pillow ends were part of Peranakan Chinese marriage rituals in Indonesia—a practice influenced by local Malay customs. They were likely made by Javanese or Chinese silversmiths.
